Daddy and his girl

"Happy Santa" vs "Grumpy Santa"

Mama and her babycakes (a nickname which I don't particularly care for, yet somehow can't help but call her)

Don't you just want to smootch her??

Hydrants are Awesome

Today, for some reason they let the fire hydrant open and we had water flowing in our front yard. To say Warren was in heaven would be an understatement. It was the best thing that could have happened this afternoon. Now he keeps asking us to go turn it back on. The weather was perfect and the neighborhood kids came our to celebrate. Contrast this with the snow we had over the weekend. Hopefully Summer is on it's way...

Infinity and a Hamburger

Yesterday, W was just one funny line after another. To wit:

1. [Steph and W outside in the backyard, looking at a worm]
W: "Hello worm. I'm Warren, [pointing to Steph] and this is momma."

2. [Driving last night]
W: "Oh, there's a yellow hydrant. Let's look for another yellow hydrant. There's ANOTHER yellow hydrant. These yellow hydrants are EVERYWHERE!"

Seriously, the kid can spot a hydrant from 1/2 mile away. I'm hoping this skill can somehow translate into a lucrative job for him someday.

3. [In the den watching Bob the Builder; C starts crying; W looks at her, looks at me, and realizes that this little lump of a sister is preventing him from watching his beloved Bob]
W: "Daddy, take her away please."

4. [Playing in the living room with mom and dad]
Taylor: "W, what does Buzz Lightyear say?"
W: "To infinity and . . . a hamburger!"

Of course, he starts laughing because he thinks he's so funny. Most of the time he is.

Pictures of My KidS

Superman jammies courtesy of Grandma. He loved the cape and kept checking himself out in the mirror. Vain little superhero.

First family picture

Tay and I got to go out on a date! (Probably the last one for a while...) We went to a Travis concert. They were amazing; we had a great time. They played every song Taylor was hoping for. I bought the tickets a while ago and almost forgot about it until the day before when I happened to drive by the theater and see their name on the marquee.

Big brother love

Love-hate relationship with the baths

My mom went back to Washington after a week with us. It was so nice having her. Although W keeps asking me for presents. She gave him a treat every morning when he woke up. Lucky duck.

I also have to cook and clean up after myself again. Bummer. Miss ya, mom!

Coming Home

The girls are home safe and sound. I can't believe how much BETTER this labor/delivery/recovery has been. I keep forgetting to take Motrin and then wonder why I'm slightly achy. It's fantastic. And I have the two cutest babies in the whole world. Love them!

(Thanks for all your comments and well-wishes. We love and miss all of you guys!)

Baby Girl Dix is Here

Warren got his little sister today. Camille Taylor Dix was born at 4:05am, weighing in at 7 lbs. 5 oz. Like her brother, she's a redhead.

Labor was blissfully uneventful. Steph started having contractions around 6:00pm, and they got more intense around 10:00pm. My mom drove down after work (thanks!) to sleep at the house with W while Steph and I sped off to the hospital. Steph was admitted a little after midnight and got her epidural around 1:00am. After that, we both got some rest. The medical crew came in about 4:00am, woke me up and said it was time to push. Three pushes later, our little girl got her first taste of the real world. After memories of W's brutal labor and delivery, this one was awesome.

We can already tell she's different from her brother--she's quiet. She cried the first couple minutes after her birth, but she's been incredibly silent since. She's content to stare around the room, just soaking things in. She doesn't seem to have W's incessant need to let everyone know that he's around. On the other hand, she hates to get her diaper changed, something W never minded.

All in all, mom and baby are doing well. Steph was a champ (she even considered going drug-free until I talked her out of it). Apart from the whole no-sleep thing, it couldn't have gone better.

I have to admit, I was worried about my initial W vs. C feelings. It's amazing, though, how you can instantly love a brand new little person just as much as the other baby you've known and loved for two and a half years. Kids are great.

Here are the long-awaited pics:

How cruel that we make them strip naked in the cold, cold world just to get an accurate weight measurement

W meeting his sister. He did really well. The last couple days, he's been saying "Cami's coming. Cami's going to live at our house." He was excited to visit the hospital to see his little sister. Once we put her in his harms, he started stroking her blanket saying "It's OK Cami, don't be sad." What a good brother.

Just waking up

She seems to always be sticking her tongue out lately.

Thanks for all the phone calls; we appreciate them. We'll post more when the ladies come home tomorrow.

Laugh or Cry?

3rd piece of embroidered denim - check. I don't know whether to laugh because this is so bizarre or to cry and move out of our house because it just got a whole lot creepier. Check this out:

"Queen of all my dreams"? WHAT!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!? CREEEEEEEPY!!!

And this time it was in the mailbox - they're getting closer and closer to my house!! I am crossing my fingers that it was some funny friend who read my blog and is messing with us. If so, touche! Very funny. If not, then I have a stalker who is freaking me out and I'm going to pee my pants. I'm having a cow.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, read this post.

Who needs a girl??

When I have Warrina? He keeps going into little girl's room and bringing me clippies to put in his hair. Flowers are his fav. I'm going to need to put those higher...

Due Dates...meh...

So this baby is officially late - such a bummer. But I still feel good, so I suppose I can be a little patient. At least I got to watch conference and attend a sweet doughnut party tonight (thanks, Mindy!!).

In unrelated news, it is now 10PM and my kid just came out looking like this:
I wonder what else goes on in his room when we think he's sleeping...

Warren's still solo

Even though I'm still 2 days away from my due date, I honestly believed that I was going to have a baby yesterday. Not that I'm having contractions or any action at all, I just felt like it would be a great day. So I was pretty grumpy as the clock got closer and closer to midnight with no signs of baby in sight. This pregnancy has been pretty good to me, and I'm just now getting uncomfortable; complaining isn't probably the best thing to do. But I'm all ready, and she's invited...so she better not make me wait too much longer.

W's been really funny lately. Really naughty, too. He's got to know in his little brain that something major is going down. Here's a couple pictures of my little man. It's going to be fun loving another little person as much as I love him. Even when he's a giant monster, I still want to cuddle him and smooch him all over.

"Resting" in the tub. He also thinks it's funny to gross me out by eating bubbles.

My pregnant attempt at a snowman. For some reason, I just wasn't feeling up to bending over and pushing giant balls of snow this week. I'm wearing Tay's coat. Isn't it cute that my boys match when they play in the snow?

Giving his snowman a hug. Later he knocked him down and kicked him several times, which he thought was hilarious. Watch out, baby sister!
'finishing touches

W got what he calls a "cool new potty"! I'm not even close to wanting to potty train him yet, but getting him used to the idea of sitting on a toilet sounded like a good idea.

Pants Prank?

So last week we came home from church and noticed a box sitting on our lawn. The lid was propped open and the word MISFIT written in sharpie on the top. Inside were a pair of hideous ladies jeans. So weird. I figured they had been left there by mistake, and I let them sit there for a day before I threw them in the trash.

Then yesterday, Taylor comes home to find - in the same spot on our lawn - a Kmart bag with another super ugly pair of ladies pants. Both had these awesome embroidered flower things on them, although the last pair's were all blue.

What the heck, world? Is our yard the dumping ground for all ugly mom jeans? And who are they meant for? Us? That's insulting. And why not put them on our door step? But if they're for someone else, then why are they left in our grass? If a third piece of embroidered denim shows up, I'm calling the cops.

The X is where the mystery pants magically appear. (Picture from last year, although with the snow our grass is lookin a little greener...)
