Seeing how we waited in line for an hour and a half for 3 burritos, one can assume we seriously love us some Chipotle. Taylor called at 5:30 and told me to come pick him up at the law school because they were giving away free burritos until 7PM. We got our stuff together and hauled it downtown only to stand around for half a century. Katie and Ben Knoll were kind enough to grace us with their presence and I think that if either couple had been absent, we wouldn't have made it all the way to the front. But hey - I didn't have to think about what to make for dinner, or make it, or clean it up. And a Chipotle carnitas burrito is SO much better than anything I had up my sleeve to make tonight. They even gave Warren one. But he waited all that time, too, so he deserved it. And then he chowed down. The guys working were impressed at our baby's capacity for food intake. They estimate they served 3500+ burritos today. And even after 8 hours of serving them, the food was still yummy and the employees were still in a good mood. We were there when they served the last customer and they all started cheering and then opened up 15 pizza boxes because "after looking at chicken and rice all day, we don't want to eat it". :) Yay Chipotle!! (Sorry Pancheros...)

Do they have order ahead there? They do in Arizona and it works great!
We love Chipotle as well. We have introduced many to it...
They have one on Purdue's campus and last year when it opened they did that. We didn't brave the line for free food but we have been there since and it was so good. They also gave away free burritos again this year on the first day of school. NOt many resturants that give away that much free food.
We missed out! I saw your email and I hurried and called Dave (he was up on campus in his office) but he had already gone to get dinner somewhere else. He called me back later and I told him about the big burrito giveaway and he said that was okay he missed it because they probably had a HUGE line and he didn't have time to wait in it. Sorry you had to wait so long but you got a great burrito in the end, right?
Was that because it was a new store opening? If that was nationwide and we missed it, I'm super bummed. That place is good!
We drove by around 2 in the afternoon and the line was all the way out the door and down the sidewalk...so we decided it wasn't worth it since Ben was with us. Oh well, I'm excited to try it out soon. Is it better than Pancheros? Pancheros is not that great in my opinion.
Wow! Iowa City is really coming up! I HATE pancheros. Did we ever tell you about the New Year's Eve food poisoning incident that almost made it on the 10 o'clock news? I shall never go to a pancheros again, as long as I live.
