Even More Official

Warren and I took the train downtown yesterday to watch all the new attorneys in Colorado get sworn in to the Colorado Bar Association. We had to leave at 2:30, which meant no nap for little cowboy. That made things fun when in the acoustically beautiful and resonant concert hall he kept repeating "go home . . . go home" during one of the speeches.

It was a short event, thankfully, but I don't know if it was really necessary. I guess it's practical to have that many people take the oath at the same time, but the whole thing was just one big pat-on-the-back-make-you-feel-great-and-superior-for-passing-the-bar love fest. A lot of pomp without a lot of substance. At one point, Taylor leans over to me and quietly says: "Sometimes lawyers can be so insufferable to be around." Good thing he's an attorney and not one of those money-grubbing, ambulance-chasing lawyers.

Am I proud of Taylor for passing the bar? Sure I am! But did we need to take a whole afternoon to have that feeling reaffirmed? I'm sure we could have thrown a better party here at home. At least he got to take off of work early and ride the light rail home with us. And I got this cute picture of my boys:

Taking the Oath
This shows about how happy W was to be there.

Oh, and Taylor got a sweet Colorado Bar Association tote bag. So never mind . . . it was TOTALLY worth going!

Halloween - Take One

Pictures of W at our ward's "Trunk-or-Treat". You might not care as much as his grandmas, but you're welcome to look and ooh and ahh over how cute Warren is.

"OK boys, everyone look up here and say cheese!"
(I have 4 more other pictures that look about the same. This one's the funniest, though)

ABCs!

Warren has been really into singing lately. Here's a great attempt at ABCs:

Check Out My Husband!

That's right... Tay Tay passed the bar! So that means he's a legitimate attorney. Any skeptics out there who aren't convinced by this awesome t-shirt can find further evidence HERE. Watch out, though. You better be nice to me because I can sue you now.

Love you Taylor! You're the best, smartest man in the whole world!

Weird Boy

"Smile" (oh wait, that doesn't work...)

"Show me your teeth" (ahh...that's better)

"smile" (oops, I forgot)

"smile" (now it's just funny to ask him because I know exactly what will happen)

"say EEEEEEEE" (looking at his daddy - so proud of his tower!)

Narcissistic?

So I grabbed the camera to document the crazy fit Warren was having because he didn't want to eat chicken and rice. It was out of control, but pretty funny. But as soon as he saw the camera, all that fury turned into love for himself and he instantly became obedient.

We filmed 2 more little clips of himself, and he got to watch one every time he took a bite. He ate all of his food (hooray!), although his vanity makes me a little worried.

#1 from Sariah "High School Tag" (this is so much more info than you care to know, I'm sure)

1. Did you date someone from your school? Yes. A very nice boy named Ben Chavez. I now love Coldplay and Sushi. Thanks, Ben!

2. What kind of car did you drive? The same car I drive now, awesomely enough. 97 green Ford Escort. It's still in great shape; I love that car. I will cry when we sell it.

3. Were you a party animal? The opposite. I made sandwiches for my drunk friends a couple times; that was stellar.

4. Were you considered a flirt? Doubt it. I didn't hit that phase of my life until college. Wish I could have skipped it all together. It's embarrassing.

5. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? Choir. It was even kind of cool. We got to go on fun trips.

6. Were you a nerd? Not quite cool or popular, but not a nerd. A healthy medium.

7. Were you on any varsity teams? No. Only made JV Volleyball. My coach thought I had a bad attitude and kept me down to teach me a lesson or something my Jr. year. So I quit. I guess she was right about the attitude thing. And I'm pretty sure I sucked, too.

8. Did you get suspended/expelled? No, but I was called into the principal's office for cheating once. I gave away my paper away to be tactfully re-written, and they didn't do such a hot job. We both got zeros.

9. Can you still sing the fight song? Yes......sad...

10. Who were your favorite teachers? I'm pretty sure Lakes didn't have good teachers. But I liked Mr. Tag and Mr. Paulson (history/economics and calculus)
11. Where did you sit during lunch? At a table full of white kids.
12. What was your school's full name? Lakes High School
13. School mascot? Lancer
14. If you could go back and do it again, would you? I would like to graduate from high school, yes. I would do things differently, though.

15. What do you remember most about graduation? The day before I went to get my really long hair trimmed, and the crazy woman misunderstood what I wanted and cut it a lot shorter. So the night before I was frantically trying to figure out how to fix it so it looked kinda normal. The ceremony was whatever. It happened, good enough.

16. Where did you go senior skip day? Seattle and to Planet Hollywood for lunch.

17. Were you in any clubs? On paper, maybe. So that I could put it on my college applications. But they weren't cool. Except ASB - I did that for a couple years and that was fun.

18. Have you gained some weight since then? I'm the same size, but I look bigger (thanks, Warren and new baby!). I got really skinny in college, though. That's when Taylor met me. After that it's all been down hill.

19. Who was your prom date? The same Ben Chavez. And of course all our other friends rented hotel rooms afterward, so we came back to my house and hung out with my fam. Sweet.

20. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? I think so...I just hope I'm skinny again.

Expanding Vocabulary

Warren's idea of what "smile" means:

after a sucker

on the airplane to Washington this week

with Grandma after church

Warren learns new words every day. And he likes to use them as often as he can. Example:

ME: "Warren, do you want some fruit snacks?"
Warren: "Fruit Snacks? FUN! YUMMY! TASTY! DELICIOUS!"

I guess that means "yes".
