The "Real" Washington

After DC, we had a relaxing couple days in the other Washington. No agenda, just hanging out with the fam. Warren loves G&G's big back yard with multiple wagons to push, and plenty of dirt and rocks to dig up. Todd and Jocelyn couldn't make it, but it was nice to be back in a mostly full house. We were there to see Scotty before he left on his mission and to hear him speak in sacrament meeting. Unfortunately he won't be able to leave this week as planned because of some medical reasons. We love you, Uncle Scotty!! Get better! (That's us last week at the DC Temple)

6000+ Miles

To all loyal fans...we've returned. Life can go on. :)

We've done a bit of traveling in the last few weeks. To Denver for wedding/house hunting, then back to Iowa for graduation, then to DC to visit my Grandma and hang out with Scotty before he leaves, then to Seattle for his mission farewell (He heads to Preston next Thursday and then on to SCOTLAND . . . holla). Warren was a champ most of the time, so he gets a bike when he's 8. But his poor little body clock is all sorts of messed up (all four time zones in the last 2 weeks will do that to you). It's 11PM and he's in the next room screaming his head off. Sorry, kid. But we managed to have some good times. Here's a bajillion pictures to prove it. We'll stick to just DC pictures for this post. Don't want to overload you all.

The rental car company ran out of crappy cars, so they forced us to drive this sweet machine. It was terrible.

Grandma encourages W to explore his inner percussionist.

Can you not picture this face on my future 16-year-old son?

Betcha didn't know they have sticks in DC. W was pleased.

Cuddle

We met Ben, Mary Ann, and Sam and played with them for a couple days. We switched babysitting duty so we could all attend the temple. This building is amazing. And huge. And seeing it from the freeway is it's own experience.

We saw Ralph. I posted this for the only person who'll care - you know who you are. (Ben Knoll)

It must have been a hard day...

Uncle Scotty knows lots of cool things...

(I thought the aliens blew this place up in Independence Day. Don't tell me that was fake!?)

My grandma is such a babe. Anyone got any single grandpa's?
And she fed us more food in a weeks time than you'd believe. I'm still getting over the calorie intake.

Clarification

The actual city we'll be in is Englewood. We're a few blocks away from Denver University. And we'll be moving on or around June 9th. Really soon, so that makes me sad to leave our buddies in IA. But we're stoked about this move. Seriously, though...come visit us.

HOUSE!!!!

After a loooong weekend of house-hunting, we found a great place to live! With the housing market kinda down in the dumps, the rental market is really crazy. Twice we wanted one, and it was rented 2 seconds later before we could even think about it. I cried over one house, but this house is SO much better, so we're very excited. It doesn't have a garage, which bums us out a little bit. But finding something close to work for Taylor, in our price range came down to a yard OR a garage, both would have been way too convenient. So we decided not to be selfish and get the kid a yard. FENCED, of course, because monster child runs runs runs. Hopefully we'll be happy here. The neighborhood is clean and seems nice, and there are kids around. Looks good. Details: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, one awesome kitchen, 1400 square feet, lawn service, and our landlords live right behind us - so nice.

We have room to host you now...SO COME VISIT US!

Wedding Fun

CONGRATULATIONS MR. AND MRS. BURROWS!

Yesterday, our good friends Dan and Rachel got married. The ceremony was beautiful (I totally cried), the weather was perfect, and we had a great time. Taylor got to be a groomsman and was handsome in his tux. We're excited because they're moving to Denver this summer, too. So total we'll have 2 friends in CO. Hooray!
(And Dan, I know you were bugged cause the last time we hung out in IA, we didn't mention it on the blog...but I promise not to slight you again!)

Bad Mama

Motherhood confessions for the week:

1. On Monday, negligent Stephanie allows innocent child to burn finger on flat iron
2. She doesn't think it looks so bad, so runs it under cold water for 4 seconds and moves on
3. It becomes a huge blister
4. W rips off his bandaid and pops the blister, so it might get infected
5. I won't let him play in the sand at the playground and take him home early to W's dismay/fury

Awesome!

And to top it all off, I also took him to the dentist today (aka Baby Torture!) and held him down while he screamed and kicked and cried and the only thing he got for it was a toothbrush and a sticker. He hasn't liked me the rest of the day. Can't say I blame him.
